As previously announced, the rates of Climate Change
Levy (CCL) will increase broadly in line with inflation from 1 April 2009.
A simplification is being introduced to remove the requirement for
electricity and gas suppliers to include wording on invoices to identify
them as CCL Accounting Documents.
Finally, electricity generated from coal mine methane will be excluded from
the definition of renewable source power for CCL purposes. Electricity
generated on or after 1 November 2008 will become liable to CCL and will no
longer be exempt.
