Aggregates levy rate increase
The measure
The rate of aggregates levy will increase from £2.00 per tonne to £2.10 per tonne.
Who will be affected?
Businesses extracting aggregates and those in the construction and civil engineering sectors that use aggregates.
When?
The rate will increase on 1 April 2011.
Our view
The aggregates levy rate has not altered significantly since it was introduced and was frozen last year in recognition of the difficulties faced by the construction industry.
